“Andie”
-Josephine C.E
Andie A pencil sketch of my first dog — the sweetest soul I’ve ever known. I created this piece to honor her legacy and the unconditional love she gave me. Due to a traumatic event, my original drawings were thrown away without my knowledge or permission. Thankfully, I was able to preserve a copy of this artwork. This sketch represents not only Andie, but a piece of my heart and my journey as an artist.
A black and white pencil sketch of Andie, showing both front and side profiles of the dog's face, with cross-hatching shading and the artist's signature '@JOSEPHINE C.E' at the bottom.
Process Behind the Portrait – Andie A glimpse into my creative workspace while sketching Andie’s portrait. This image captures the early stage of the drawing process: a large sheet of white paper with a proportional pencil outline of Andie’s face. Her facial features are carefully mapped out with light guidelines to ensure accurate shading, balance, and positioning. At the bottom of the paper rests a black-and-white reference photo of Andie — the original image I used to study her expression, structure, and soft details. A pencil lies nearby, along with protective wrapping material that keeps the artwork safe during the process. This moment reflects the foundation of the piece — where memory meets precision. Every line begins with observation, patience, and love.

“Study of Saint Catherine Labouré – Classical Portrait Rendering “
Saint Catherine Labouré (1806–1876) was a member of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul and is widely known for her Marian visions, which led to the creation of the Miraculous Medal. The distinctive white Cornette headpiece depicted in this drawing was traditionally worn by the daughters of Charity until 1964.
This artwork is a charcoal study created for academic purposes, based on a historical portrait reference. The original painter of the source image is currently unconfirmed. This rendering focuses on tonal control, balance of light and shadow, and classical realism techniques.
